| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1814 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1814 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Department of Public Health Powers and | ||||||
| 5 | Duties Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is | ||||||
| 6 | amended by adding Section 2310-735 as follows: | ||||||
| 7 | (20 ILCS 2310/2310-735 new) | ||||||
| 8 | Sec. 2310-735. Public educational effort on amniotic fluid | ||||||
| 9 | embolism. | ||||||
| 10 | (a) As used in this Section, "amniotic fluid embolism" | ||||||
| 11 | means a rare obstetric emergency in which amniotic fluid, | ||||||
| 12 | fetal cells, hair, or other debris enters the maternal | ||||||
| 13 | bloodstream leading to cardiovascular collapse, respiratory | ||||||
| 14 | failure, and disseminated intravascular coagulation. | ||||||
| 15 | (b) The Department shall conduct educational activities | ||||||
| 16 | for providers on the signs, symptoms, and management of | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | amniotic fluid embolism. | ||||||
| 2 | (c) The Department shall make available information about | ||||||
| 3 | amniotic fluid embolism on the Department's website. | ||||||
| 4 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 5 | becoming law.". | ||||||
