| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2977 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2977 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | adding Section 11-6.1.5 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (65 ILCS 5/11-6.1.5 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 11-6.1.5. Minimum funding requirements for | ||||||
| 8 | ambulances, fire engines, and other vehicles used to provide | ||||||
| 9 | emergency services. A municipality must set aside 10% of the | ||||||
| 10 | funds the municipality receives from private insurers as | ||||||
| 11 | direct payment for ambulance or fire services provided by the | ||||||
| 12 | municipality. The municipality may only use the funds for | ||||||
| 13 | purchasing or maintaining ambulances, fire engines, and other | ||||||
| 14 | vehicles used to provide emergency services. Nothing in this | ||||||
| 15 | Section applies to funds received through (i) public health | ||||||
| 16 | programs, including, but not limited to, Medicaid and Medicare | ||||||

| 1 | or (ii) reimbursement for liability claims, settlements, or | ||||||
| 2 | judgments, including payments from excess insurers or | ||||||
| 3 | self-insurance reserves.". | ||||||
