| 1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2977 | ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2977 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following: | ||||||
| 4 | "Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by | ||||||
| 5 | adding Section 11-6.1.5 as follows: | ||||||
| 6 | (65 ILCS 5/11-6.1.5 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 11-6.1.5. Minimum funding requirements for | ||||||
| 8 | ambulances, fire engines, and other vehicles used to provide | ||||||
| 9 | emergency services. A municipality with a population of more | ||||||
| 10 | than 500,000 must set aside 10% of the funds the municipality | ||||||
| 11 | receives from private insurers as direct payment for ambulance | ||||||
| 12 | or fire services provided by the municipality. The | ||||||
| 13 | municipality may use the set-aside funds only for purchasing | ||||||
| 14 | or maintaining ambulances, fire engines, and other vehicles | ||||||
| 15 | used to provide emergency services. Nothing in this Section | ||||||
| 16 | applies to funds received through (i) public health programs, | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | including, but not limited to, Medicaid and Medicare, or (ii) | ||||||
| 2 | reimbursements for liability claims, settlements, or | ||||||
| 3 | judgments, including payments from excess insurers or | ||||||
| 4 | self-insurance reserves.". | ||||||
