| 3 | with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment | ||||||
| 4 | No. 1, on page 61, immediately below line 10, by inserting the | ||||||
| 5 | following: | ||||||
| 6 | "Section 26. The Prevailing Wage Act is amended by | ||||||
| 7 | changing Section 3 as follows: | ||||||
| 8 | (820 ILCS 130/3) (from Ch. 48, par. 39s-3) | ||||||
| 9 | Sec. 3. Not less than the general prevailing rate of | ||||||
| 10 | hourly wages for work of a similar character on public works in | ||||||
| 11 | the locality in which the work is performed, and not less than | ||||||
| 12 | the general prevailing rate of hourly wages for legal holiday | ||||||
| 13 | and overtime work, shall be paid to all laborers, workers, and | ||||||
| 14 | mechanics employed by or on behalf of any public body engaged | ||||||
| 15 | in the construction or demolition of public works. This | ||||||
| 16 | includes any maintenance, repair, assembly, or disassembly | ||||||

| 1 | work performed on equipment whether owned, leased, or rented | ||||||
| 2 | and, notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, applies | ||||||
| 3 | to field mechanics, technicians, or similar positions, | ||||||
| 4 | including time spent transporting parts, materials, or | ||||||
| 5 | equipment to and from a site, regardless of whether the person | ||||||
| 6 | is employed by a contractor, subcontractor, seller, or | ||||||
| 7 | supplier. Only such laborers, workers and mechanics as are | ||||||
| 8 | directly employed by contractors or subcontractors in actual | ||||||
| 9 | construction work on the site of the building or construction | ||||||
| 10 | job, and laborers, workers and mechanics engaged in the | ||||||
| 11 | transportation of materials and equipment to or from the site, | ||||||
| 12 | but not including the transportation by the sellers and | ||||||
| 13 | suppliers or the manufacture or processing of materials or | ||||||
| 14 | equipment, in the execution of any contract or contracts for | ||||||
| 15 | public works with any public body shall be deemed to be | ||||||
| 16 | employed upon public works. The wage for a tradesman | ||||||
| 17 | performing maintenance is equivalent to that of a tradesman | ||||||
| 18 | engaged in construction or demolition. | ||||||
