SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
230 ILCS 40/65

    Amends the Video Gaming Act. Requires a unit of government, including a home rule unit, to impose a fee for the operation of a video gaming terminal of $1,000 per year (rather than prohibiting a non-home rule unit of government to impose any fee for the operation of a video gaming terminal in excess of $25 per year). Limits home rule.

1    AN ACT concerning gaming.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Video Gaming Act is amended by changing
5Section 65 as follows:
 
6    (230 ILCS 40/65)
7    Sec. 65. Fees. A unit of government, including a home rule
8unit, shall impose a fee for the operation of a video gaming
9terminal of $1,000 per year. A home rule unit may not impose a
10fee in an amount other than that provided in this Section. This
11Section is a denial and limitation of home rule powers and
12functions under subsection (h) of Section 6 of Article VII of
13the Illinois Constitution. A non-home rule unit of government
14may not impose any fee for the operation of a video gaming
15terminal in excess of $25 per year.
