SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
70 ILCS 3605/51.5 new
70 ILCS 3610/8.8 new
70 ILCS 3615/3A.19 new
70 ILCS 3615/3B.17 new

    Amends the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act, the Local Mass Transit District Act, and the Regional Transportation Authority Act. Provides that no later than 180 days following the effective date of the amendatory Act, any fixed route public transportation services provided by, or under grant or purchase of service contracts of, the Chicago Transit Board, a local Mass Transit District, the Suburban Bus Board, or the Commuter Rail Board must be provided without charge for 30 days to an individual who resides in the area of the Boards or Districts who was issued an emergency or plenary order of protection. Provides that the Boards and Districts must prescribe conditions of the program, including the information an individual must provide to determine eligibility.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Metropolitan Transit Authority Act is
5amended by adding Section 51.5 as follows:
 
6    (70 ILCS 3605/51.5 new)
7    Sec. 51.5. Free services; order of protection. No later
8than 180 days following the effective date of this amendatory
9Act of the 101st General Assembly, any fixed route public
10transportation services provided by, or under grant or purchase
11of service contracts of, the Board must be provided without
12charge for 30 days to an individual of the Metropolitan Region
13who was issued an order of protection. The Board must prescribe
14conditions to implement this Section, including the
15information the person requesting services without charge must
16provide to determine eligibility.
17    As used in this Section, "order of protection" means an
18emergency order of protection under Section 217 of the Illinois
19Domestic Violence Act of 1986 or a plenary order of protection
20under Section 219 of the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of
211986.
 
22    Section 10. The Local Mass Transit District Act is amended

1by adding Section 8.8 as follows:
 
2    (70 ILCS 3610/8.8 new)
3    Sec. 8.8. Free services; order of protection. No later than
4180 days following the effective date of this amendatory Act of
5the 101st General Assembly, any fixed route public
6transportation services provided by, or under grant or purchase
7of service contracts of, a District must be provided without
8charge for 30 days to an individual of the District who was
9issued an order of protection. Each District must prescribe
10conditions to implement this Section, including the
11information the person requesting services without charge must
12provide to determine eligibility.
13    As used in this Section, "order of protection" means an
14emergency order of protection under Section 217 of the Illinois
15Domestic Violence Act of 1986 or a plenary order of protection
16under Section 219 of the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of
171986.
 
18    Section 15. The Regional Transportation Authority Act is
19amended by adding Sections 3A.19 and 3B.17 as follows:
 
20    (70 ILCS 3615/3A.19 new)
21    Sec. 3A.19. Free services; order of protection. No later
22than 180 days following the effective date of this amendatory
23Act of the 101st General Assembly, any fixed route public

2of service contracts of, the Suburban Bus Board must be
3provided without charge for 30 days to an individual of the
4Metropolitan Region who was issued an order of protection. The
5Suburban Bus Board must prescribe conditions to implement this
6Section, including the information the person requesting
7services without charge must provide to determine eligibility.
8    As used in this Section, "order of protection" means an
9emergency order of protection under Section 217 of the Illinois
10Domestic Violence Act of 1986 or a plenary order of protection
11under Section 219 of the Illinois Domestic Violence Act of
121986.

14    Sec. 3B.17. Free services; order of protection. No later
15than 180 days following the effective date of this amendatory
16Act of the 101st General Assembly, any fixed route public
17transportation services provided by, or under grant or purchase
18of service contracts of, the Commuter Rail Board must be
19provided without charge for 30 days to an individual of the
20Metropolitan Region who was issued an order of protection. The
21Commuter Rail Board must prescribe conditions to implement this
22Section, including the information the person requesting
23services without charge must provide to determine eligibility.
24    As used in this Section, "order of protection" means an
25emergency order of protection under Section 217 of the Illinois

31986.
