SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 57/17 new

Amends the Transportation Network Providers Act. Provides that, notwithstanding any laws to the contrary, a transportation network company and a driver may establish by contract that the driver is an independent contractor and not an employee.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Transportation Network Providers Act is amended by adding Section 17 as follows:

Sec. 17. Employment status. Notwithstanding any laws to the contrary, a TNC and a driver may establish by contract that the driver is an independent contractor and not an employee of the TNC.
