SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
55 ILCS 5/5-12001.5 new

    Amends the Counties Code. Provides that Lake County may regulate animal husbandry on any size parcel of land when such purposes constitute the principal activity on the land. Provides that such regulations include, but are not limited to: eliminating uses, buildings, or structures; requiring permits for land used for animal husbandry; regulating the erection, maintenance, repair, alteration, remodeling, or extension of buildings or structures used or to be used for animal husbandry purposes; requiring buildings or structures for animal husbandry purposes to conform to building or setback lines; and establishing a minimum lot size for residences on land used for animal husbandry. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by by adding
5Section 5-12001.5 as follows:
 
6    (55 ILCS 5/5-12001.5 new)
7    Sec. 5-12001.5. Animal Husbandry.
8    (a) As used in this subsection, "animal husbandry" excludes
9equine activity.
10    (b) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, Lake County
11may regulate animal husbandry on any size parcel of land when
12such purposes constitute the principal activity on the land.
13Such regulations include, but are not limited to: eliminating
14uses, buildings, or structures; requiring permits for land used
15for animal husbandry; regulating the erection, maintenance,
16repair, alteration, remodeling, or extension of buildings or
17structures used or to be used for animal husbandry purposes;
18requiring buildings or structures for animal husbandry
19purposes to conform to building or setback lines; and
20establishing a minimum lot size for residences on land used for
21animal husbandry.
 
22    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
