SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

110 ILCS 160/20 new

Amends the Credit for Prior Learning Act. Requires the Board of Higher Education to create an ongoing program of stakeholder meetings between public universities and the employer community to develop standardized credit-hour privileges for prior learning and to better stabilize the number of credentials issued in Illinois. Requires the Illinois Community College Board to create an ongoing program for stakeholder meetings between community colleges and the employer community to develop standardized credit-hour privileges for prior learning and to better stabilize the number of credentials issued in Illinois.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Credit for Prior Learning Act is amended by adding Section 20 as follows:

(110 ILCS 160/20 new)

Sec. 20. Stakeholder meetings.

(a) The Board of Higher Education shall create an ongoing program of stakeholder meetings between public universities and the employer community to develop standardized credit-hour privileges for prior learning and to better stabilize the number of credentials issued in Illinois.

(b) The Illinois Community College Board shall create an ongoing program for stakeholder meetings between community colleges and the employer community to develop standardized credit-hour privileges for prior learning and to better stabilize the number of credentials issued in Illinois.
