SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
25 ILCS 120/7 new

    Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that members of the General Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living adjustment for or during the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2019. Provides that members of the General Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living adjustment for terms commencing on or after July 1, 2019, unless otherwise approved by law. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by adding
5Section 7 as follows:
 
6    (25 ILCS 120/7 new)
7    Sec. 7. General Assembly COLAs prohibited.
8    (a) Notwithstanding any former or current provision of this
9Act, any other law, any report of the Compensation Review
10Board, or any resolution of the General Assembly to the
11contrary, members of the General Assembly are prohibited from
12receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation
13that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living
14adjustment, as authorized by Senate Joint Resolution 192 of the
1586th General Assembly, for or during the fiscal year beginning
16July 1, 2019.
17    (b) Notwithstanding any former or current provision of this
