HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Michael
4Walter "Train" Butler, who passed away on August 10, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Butler was born in Savannah, Georgia to
6Walter Homan Butler Jr. and Shirley Marie Darensbourg-Butler on
7February 18, 1952; he attended Rudyard Kipling Elementary
8School and graduated from Harlan High School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Michael Butler was a hard worker and had many jobs
10and roles; when he was employed by the Illinois Juvenile
11Detention Center in St. Charles, he met and married Valerie
12Denise Thomas; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Michael Butler was committed to his faith; he was
14baptized Catholic but later became a member of Gayles Memorial
15Baptist Church in Aurora, where he served until he moved back
16to Chicago; he then joined the Apostolic Church of God; he
17enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing musical
18instruments, politics, debating, watching the Chicago Cubs,
19cooking, and making the best pitchers of Kool-Aid; he valued
20the time he spent with his family and friends; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Michael Butler was preceded in death by his

1parents; and his brothers, Walter, Gary, Keith, and Craig
2Butler; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Michael Butler is survived by his daughters,
4Tamika (Daryl) Primer, Jasmine Thomas, Zakia Thomas, and
5Shirley-Marie Butler; his son, Antwan Enoch; his brother, Eric
6(Katrina); his grandchildren, Brittney, Kyle, Zionna, Zayda,
7Javen, and Josiah; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many
8friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Michael Walter "Train" Butler and
12extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all
13who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Michael Butler as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
