HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Stephan
4Andrew Kaminsky, who passed away on January 7, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephan Kaminsky was born on April 22, 1945 and
6joined the United States Navy in November of 1963, serving his
7country in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1967;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Upon his return from service, Stephan Kaminsky
10joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), taking part in
11numerous activities to support veterans of the United States
12Armed Forces and educate citizens of Lake County on the
13uniqueness of veterans; and
 
14    WHEREAS, While a member of Libertyville Memorial VFW Post
158741, Stephan Kaminsky continued his involvement with the
16community as a member of the Post Color Guard and Honor Guard;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Stephan Kaminsky held numerous leadership
19positions within VFW Post 8741 during his tenure, including
20Junior Vice Commander, Senior Vice Commander, and Commander,
21where he guided and led Post 8741 in assisting multiple veteran

1programs within Lake County; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Stephan Kaminsky further created a welcoming and
3nurturing environment for the youth of Libertyville and was
4instrumental in mentoring three youths who won the State of
5Illinois Fifth District VFW Voice of Democracy Essay
6Competition, of which one youth went on to compete in the
7National Voice of Democracy Competition in Washington, D.C.;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Stephan Andrew Kaminsky and extend our
12sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Stephan Kaminsky as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
