HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate David Mingus on the
4occasion of his retirement as the Mayor of East Peoria and on
5his 30 years of service to East Peoria; and
 
6    WHEREAS, David Mingus was first elected to the East Peoria
7Grade School Board in 1989 and served until 1997; during his
8time on the board, he served as the board's president from 1991
9until 1992; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In 1995, David Mingus was elected as East Peoria
11Commissioner and served in that role until he was elected Mayor
12of East Peoria in 2007; and
 
13    WHEREAS, David Mingus' commitment to his community goes
14beyond government service, as he served on the East Peoria
15Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Heart of Illinois
16United Way Agency Executive Board, and the Tazwood Mental
17Health Center Board of Directors; he also contributed to
18several statewide and national workshops; and
 
19    WHEREAS, As a result of his hard work and dedication to
20East Peoria, David Mingus was named East Peoria's Citizen of
21the Year in 2010; and

1    WHEREAS, In addition to his dedication to his community,
2David Mingus is also a dedicated family man; he and his loving
3wife Candra have raised three wonderful children, Seth,
4Jonathan, and Adam, who have blessed them with six
5grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we congratulate David Mingus on the occasion of his retirement
9as the Mayor of East Peoria and commend his 30-year career in
10public service; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to David Mingus as an expression of our esteem and
13respect.
