HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate David Mingus on the occasion of his retirement as the Mayor of East Peoria and on his 30 years of service to East Peoria; and

WHEREAS, David Mingus was first elected to the East Peoria Grade School Board in 1989 and served until 1997; during his time on the board, he served as the board's president from 1991 until 1992; and

WHEREAS, In 1995, David Mingus was elected as East Peoria Commissioner and served in that role until he was elected Mayor of East Peoria in 2007; and

WHEREAS, David Mingus' commitment to his community goes beyond government service, as he served on the East Peoria Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Heart of Illinois United Way Agency Executive Board, and the Tazwood Mental Health Center Board of Directors; he also contributed to several statewide and national workshops; and

WHEREAS, As a result of his hard work and dedication to East Peoria, David Mingus was named East Peoria's Citizen of the Year in 2010; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his dedication to his community, David Mingus is also a dedicated family man; he and his loving wife Candra have raised three wonderful children, Seth, Jonathan, and Adam, who have blessed them with six grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate David Mingus on the occasion of his retirement as the Mayor of East Peoria and commend his 30-year career in public service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to David Mingus as an expression of our esteem and respect.
