HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Chicago Police Commander
4Marc S. Buslik on the occasion of his retirement after a
5lifetime of service in law enforcement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik started his career in law
7enforcement as a patrol officer in District 25 and continued in
8service to the people of Chicago for the next 37 years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik rose to the rank of commander and
10oversaw 400 sworn supervisors, patrol officers and detectives,
11and civilian personnel; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik was the lead Terrorism Liaison
13Officer and a member of the F.B.I.'s Terrorism Liaison Officer
14Committee; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik instituted the Mental Health
16Resource Officer pilot program, which helped give law
17enforcement officers the necessary medical support they
18deserve; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik was appointed to the Mayoral
20Police Accountability Task Force and worked tirelessly to

1examine department practices and accountability measures; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik piloted the Chicago Police body
3camera program and became a nationally recognized expert on the
4use of body cameras by law enforcement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik received over 25 awards and
6recognitions for his exhaustive efforts to keep Chicago safe,
7which included a prestigious mayoral recognition and three
8department commendations; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik published six articles and gave
1023 presentations to help fellow law enforcement officers do
11their jobs safely and effectively; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Due to his knowledge and education, Commander
13Buslik was an adjunct professor at three of the State's
14universities and colleges; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Commander Buslik is a distinct and important
16member of the law enforcement community; he will be missed for,
17among other things, his ingenuity and intelligence; therefore,
18be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
20HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

1we, along with his family, friends, and coworkers, congratulate
2Commander Buslik on his retirement and thank him for his years
3of dedicated public service; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to Commander Buslik as an expression of our utmost
6esteem and respect.
