HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Bishop McNamara High School football team on placing second in the 2018 IHSA Class 4A State Championship on November 23, 2018; and

WHEREAS, This was Bishop McNamara's ninth appearance in the championship game in the history of the school and their second state appearance in three years; they have five championships, with their last championship in 2015; and

WHEREAS, During the 2018 season, Bishop McNamara went 6 and 0 on their home field and 5 and 1 at away games; they compiled an overall record of 12 wins and 2 losses; and

WHEREAS, Bishop McNamara had to play four playoff games to get to the championship round; and

WHEREAS, In the semifinals, Bishop McNamara defeated seven-time state champion Rochester by a score of 52 to 42 at Memorial Field in Champaign, with player Tyshon King scoring four touchdowns on 48 carries; and

WHEREAS, In the championship game, Bishop McNamara met their long-time rivals, Immaculate Conception; Bishop McNamara was led by head coach Rich Zinanni, who was coaching in his ninth title game; they fought until the end and lost by only 10 points; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Bishop McNamara High School football team on placing second in the 2018 IHSA Class 4A State Championship, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the players and coaches of Bishop McNamara as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
