HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Lori Greiner on her successful career as a self-made inventor, entrepreneur, and television personality; and

WHEREAS, Lori Greiner grew up on the Near North Side of Chicago and attended Loyola University; while in college, she worked for the Chicago Tribune; and

WHEREAS, In 1996, Lori Greiner launched her career when she designed and patented a plastic earring organizer that was picked up by J.C. Penney before the holiday season; after her success with J.C. Penney, she started her own company and successfully designed and patented other consumer products; her products were sold on the Home Shopping Network and at Bed, Bath & Beyond; and

WHEREAS, In 2000, Lori Greiner transition to QVC, where she began hosting Clever & Unique Creations, one of the longest-running shows on the network; in 2012, she joined the television show Shark Tank; in 2014, her investment in Scrub Daddy, a company that produces a texture changing household sponge, was noted as one of the biggest successes in Shark Tank history; her other successful Shark Tank investments include Screenmend, FiberFix, Sleep Styler, and Squatty Potty; she currently holds over 120 U.S. patents and has created over 700 products; and

WHEREAS, Lori Greiner has achieved success through her talent, hard work, and perseverance and serves as a model for all future entrepreneurs; her sharp instincts and hands-on approach to business have created a true American success story; in addition to her efforts in helping people's dreams become reality and her passion to help make people's everyday lives easier through consumer products, she is a sought-after speaker, a published author, and a generous supporter of a variety of charitable causes and organizations; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lori Greiner on her successful career as an inventor, entrepreneur, and television personality; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Lori Greiner as an expression of our esteem and respect.
