HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert
4"Rob" Amling, who passed away on May 29, 2019 at the age of 68;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Rob Amling was born in Pana on June 6, 1950; a
7lifelong resident of the Pana area, he graduated from Pana High
8School in 1968; he received his Bachelor of Science in
9Horticulture from the University of Illinois in 1972; he
10married Debbie DeRochi in Taylorville, and they expanded their
11family with a daughter, Stacie; and
 
12    WHEREAS, A true entrepreneur, Rob Amling owned and operated
13Cold Springs Greenhouse in rural Tower Hill since 1973 and
14Junction Garden Center in Pana since 1986; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Rob Amling was an active member of the community
16and most recently served on the Shelby County Board and the
17Shelby County Housing Authority Board; he was Chairman of the
18Heartland Resource Conservation and Development Council, the
19Shelby County Republican Central Committee, the Shelby County
20Economic Development Board, and the Kaskaskia Watershed
21Association; and

1    WHEREAS, Previously, Rob Amling served on the Tower Hill
2Fire Protection District Board of Trustees, the Pana Community
3Hospital Board of Directors, the Pana Community Hospital
4Foundation Board of Directors, the Christian County Economic
5Development Board, and the University of Illinois Dudley Smith
6Farm Advisory Board; he was the Cold Spring Township Supervisor
7and President of the Pana Area Chamber of Commerce; he was
8involved in the formation of Tri County Quail Unlimited; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rob Amling was a family man and a well-respected
10public servant who will be deeply missed by his community, his
11wife, his daughter, his extended family, and his friends;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Robert "Rob" Amling and extend our
16sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
17and loved him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Rob Amling as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
