HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Veda
4Laurette Cole-Brown of Chicago, who passed away on April 25,
52019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Veda Cole-Brown was the second child of Charles
7Cole and Geraldine; she was raised on the South Side of
8Chicago, where she attended Farren and Ray Elementary School,
9Hyde Park High School, and Huston-Tillotson University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Veda Cole-Brown began dancing with the Sammy Dyer
11School of Theatre at the age of ten and continued through her
12high school years; she graduated to the semi-professional
13junior Vashionetts and once performed at Club Delisa as a
14back-up dancer for Sammy Davis Jr.; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Veda Cole-Brown was a deeply devoted mother to her
16son, Kyle Amir Sneed, and cherished the life she lived with her
17husband, Richard Ari Brown; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Before her retirement, Veda Cole-Brown was a
19social worker with the Department of Children and Family
20Services for 28 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Veda Cole-Brown had a huge presence in Chicago's
2social landscape; she will be remembered for the compassion
3with which she cultivated and maintained lifelong friendships
4with people from all walks of life; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we mourn the passing of Veda Laurette Cole-Brown and extend our
8deepest condolences to all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Veda Cole-Brown as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
