HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Elementary School District 159 on the occasion of its 150th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The administration center for District 159 is located in Matteson on the site of the original two-room Sieden Prairie schoolhouse, originally built in 1869; and

WHEREAS, District 159, located in South Suburban Cook County, serves students that reside in the 38th Legislative District; and

WHEREAS, The mission of District 159 is to educate, empower, and inspire the whole child; its vision is to establish a shared culture that fosters a student-centered approach to learning and personal development using the best practices and educational resources; and

WHEREAS, District 159 believes in innovative educational opportunities that set the foundation for preparing its students to be life-long learners who are college and career ready; and

WHEREAS, District 159 believes in creating an inclusive educational environment that encourages the participation of every stakeholder; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Elementary School District 159 on its 150th anniversary, and we wish them many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to District 159 as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
