HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity parish in Chicago on its formation through the successful merger of Saint Tarcissus, Saint Cornelius, and Saint Thecla parishes; and

WHEREAS, Saint Elizabeth refers to Elizabeth Catez, a French Discalced Carmelite nun, who died in 1906 at the age of 26 from Addison's disease, a disorder which affects the adrenal glands; she was canonized in 2016 and serves as the patron of sick people, of the loss of parents, and against illness; the parish's name also reflects its origin as three separate parishes uniting together to form a trinity, similar to the Catholic belief of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit forming the Holy Trinity; and

WHEREAS, The new parish will be located in the current home of Saint Tarcissus at 6020 West Ardmore Avenue in Chicago; the Saint Tarcissus campus and church will be referred to as Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity in all parish materials beginning July 1, 2020; and

WHEREAS, In addition, the Pope Francis Global Academy North Campus, which is housed in the former Saint Tarcissus School, will be renamed the Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity School; and

WHEREAS, The current pastor of Saint Tarcissus, Mike Grisolano, will become the pastor of Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity starting this summer; and

WHEREAS, Currently, plans are being made to form a unification committee that will consist of approximately six members from each the three parishes; the committee's responsibilities will include sponsoring events in which members of all three parishes will participate; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity and wish them many years of faith and fellowship as they build their new community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor Mike Grisolano and the Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity parish as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
