HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James D. Patton, who passed away on January 28, 2020; and

WHEREAS, James Patton was a retired colonel in the U.S. Army and a World War II veteran; and

WHEREAS, James Patton was retired lieutenant with the Chicago Police Department; at the age of 94, he still worked as office manager of Patton Motor Service; and

WHEREAS, James Patton was a member of the Military Officers Association of America; most recently, he was a parishioner at St. Julie Billiart in Tinley Park; before that, he was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Parish in Beverly; and

WHEREAS, In 2019, James Patton was honored before a Chicago White Sox game as "Hero of the Day"; and

WHEREAS, James Patton was the beloved husband for 71 years of Eileen (Quagliano); the loving father of Kathleen (the late Greg) Gora, Eileen (Michael) Havey, Madonna (the late Ken) Halicki, Maureen (the late Bill) Lash, James (Cookie), Pat (Colleen), John Ret. CFD (Candy) Patton, and Amy (Greg) Preves; proud grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of 22; and uncle of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of James D. Patton and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of James Patton as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
