HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James D.
4Patton, who passed away on January 28, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Patton was a retired colonel in the U.S.
6Army and a World War II veteran; and
 
7    WHEREAS, James Patton was retired lieutenant with the
8Chicago Police Department; at the age of 94, he still worked as
9office manager of Patton Motor Service; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Patton was a member of the Military Officers
11Association of America; most recently, he was a parishioner at
12St. Julie Billiart in Tinley Park; before that, he was a
13parishioner of St. Barnabas Parish in Beverly; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In 2019, James Patton was honored before a Chicago
15White Sox game as "Hero of the Day"; and
 
16    WHEREAS, James Patton was the beloved husband for 71 years
17of Eileen (Quagliano); the loving father of Kathleen (the late
18Greg) Gora, Eileen (Michael) Havey, Madonna (the late Ken)
19Halicki, Maureen (the late Bill) Lash, James (Cookie), Pat
20(Colleen), John Ret. CFD (Candy) Patton, and Amy (Greg) Preves;

1proud grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of 22; and uncle
2of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we mourn the passing of James D. Patton and extend our sincere
6condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
7him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of James Patton as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
