HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Helen (Kadluboski)
4Drobnick on the occasion of her 100th birthday on November 9,
52019; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Helen Drobnick was the fourth of ten siblings and
7was raised by her parents, who were Polish immigrants, on the
8family's dairy farm; getting to school meant a seven mile walk
9if motor transportation was unavailable; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Helen Drobnick arrived in Waukegan in 1943 from
11Iron River, Michigan, a small town on the Upper Peninsula; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Helen Drobnick married Mark J. Drobnick in 1948
13and, for the last 50 years, has lived in the home that he built
14for her; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Helen Drobnick had a 40-year career with Illinois
16Bell; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Helen Drobnick's son, Mark H., is a medical and
18law school alumnus and campaigned for city clerk; she also has
19a daughter-in-law, Loida, and four grandchildren, Mama, Owl
20(Mark L.), and Joshua Daniel from Puerto Rico and Linda from

1Illinois; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Helen Drobnick is happy, alert, and looking toward
3a bright future; she enjoys various activities, including
4watching Wheel of Fortune, playing cards, reading the News-Sun,
5gardening, and shopping; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sharing some of her longevity secrets, Helen
7Drobnick suggests avoiding bad habits, being active, following
8doctor's advice, getting adequate rest, going for your polio
9vaccine, and doing things that bring you joy; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Helen Drobnick on her 100th birthday, and we
13wish her many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Helen Drobnick as a symbol of our respect and
16esteem.
