HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Dale Sands on the occasion
4of his retirement as village president of Deer Park; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dale Sands earned his Bachelor of Science in
6Chemistry from Central Michigan University, his Master of
7Science in Environmental Science from the University of
8Michigan, and his Master of Business Administration from
9California State University East Bay; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dale Sands moved to Deer Park in 1993; he was
11first elected to the Deer Park Village Board as a trustee in
122009; he ran unopposed for village president in 2017 and served
13until his retirement; during his tenure, his achievements
14included the construction of Deer Park's first village hall,
15renovations to the historic Vehe Barn, and Deer Park becoming a
16U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Green Power partner
17community for committing to use 100% renewable energy for an
18electric aggregation program; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dale Sands worked for over 40 years in a wide
20range of executive leadership roles with leading engineering
21firms, including CH2M, AECOM, and ABB; he retired from a
22full-time career at a design engineering company in 2017; he is

1frequently invited to speak at international climate and
2environmental conferences; he has over 40 years of
3environmental experience, including authoring 50 technical
4publications and presentations; he has lived and traveled
5internationally and has experience in 65 countries; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dale Sands devoted time to ARISE, a private sector
7organization focused on the Sendai Framework disaster risk
8reduction goals, and served as the chair of the United Nations
9ARISE Network of the United States and the co-chair of the
10United Nations ARISE Global Board; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dale Sands and his wife will divide their time on
12a property with a renovated 1850s farmhouse in southeastern
13Michigan and a house in Hawaii; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
15HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we congratulate Dale Sands on the occasion of his retirement as
17village president of Deer Park, and we commend his commitment
18to the community of Deer Park; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to Dale Sands as an expression of our esteem and
21respect.
