HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rudolph "Rudy" Booth of Peoria, who passed away on July 20, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Rudolph Booth was born in Blue Mountain, Mississippi to Wilbo and Junie Bell (Rutherford) Booth on December 1, 1943; he settled in Peoria as a young adult; he married Yvonne Stenson, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 17, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Rudolph Booth worked at Caterpillar for over 35 years; after retirement, he worked in the hospitality industry, last working at the Embassy Suites and the Visitors Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Rudolph Booth was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church, where he served as head usher and with the van ministry and men's group; he never met a stranger and had the gift of hospitality, always greeting folks with a huge smile and hug; he enjoyed Manual High School Basketball and was a member of various bowling leagues; and

WHEREAS, Rudolph Booth was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Ruchelle Booth Hill; his brother, James Booth; and his grandson, Derrick "DJ" Booth Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Rudolph Booth is survived by his wife, Yvonne; his children, David (Melissa) Booth, Derrick (Jehan) Booth, Daniel (Ashley) Booth, Devon (Tony) Booth, and Alicia (Richard) Posey; his grandchildren, Mariah, Sydney, Brandon, Chancellor, Jianna, Jaxon, DeLaney, and Aden; and his beloved fur buddy, Koby; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rudolph "Rudy" Booth and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rudolph Booth as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
