HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate James Madigan on the occasion of his retirement from the Oak Park Public Library; and

WHEREAS, James Madigan launched his journey in professional library leadership on February 7, 1994 as Coordinator of Administrative and Community Services; and

WHEREAS, Since then, James Madigan has made significant contributions in the various roles of Assistant Director for Management Services, Assistant Director for Administration, Assistant Director for Administration and Finance, and currently as Deputy Director; and

WHEREAS, James Madigan is deeply committed to the mentoring, support, and education of future librarians and library staff members; and

WHEREAS, James Madigan's steadfast commitment to celebrating personal and professional diversity aligns tightly with the missions of the Oak Park Public Library and the Village of Oak Park; and

WHEREAS, James Madigan's leadership in the renovation process of the Maze Branch Library and the planning and construction of the current award-winning Main Library building was essential; and

WHEREAS, James Madigan's work, commitment, and dedication have ensured the library's place as the heart of the community; he has helped make it a place of information and learning, a gathering place, and a welcoming place for everyone; he has been a trusted colleague, a sounding board, a voice of reason, an encourager, a calming influence, a teacher and a friend; and

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate James Madigan on his retirement as Executive Director of the Oak Park Public Library, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James Madigan as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
