HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate John Clancy on the
4occasion of his 99th birthday on October 18, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Clancy enlisted in the United States Navy on
6September 26, 1942 as a Chief Petty Officer and is one of the
7oldest living World War II veterans; and
 
8    WHEREAS, John Clancy's initial time in the Navy was spent
9in Naval Intelligence; when that department was closed in early
101944, he was assigned to the USS Nehenta Bay (CVE-74); and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Clancy served as a Flight Deck Chief/Plane
12Director while assigned to the USS Nehenta Bay; after the war,
13he continued to serve as the Chief Master of Arms while the
14Nehenta Bay transported sailors to their home ports; and
 
15    WHEREAS, John Clancy was discharged from the Navy on
16December 29, 1945 after serving with distinction; therefore, be
17it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
19HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate John Clancy on the occasion of his 99th

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to John Clancy as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
