SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

215 ILCS 5/143.24e new

Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that no insurer may increase the premium or rate charged on a policy of motor vehicle insurance or cancel such policy as a result of the insured person's involvement in a multivehicle accident or car theft when the insured person was not at fault in such accident or car theft.

AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding Section 143.24e as follows:

(215 ILCS 5/143.24e new)

Sec. 143.24e. Premium increase or cancellation prohibited. An insurer shall not increase the premium or rate charged on a policy of motor vehicle insurance or cancel such policy as a result of the insured person's involvement in a multivehicle accident or car theft when the insured person was not at fault in such accident or car theft.
