SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

415 ILCS 5/9.18 new

Amends the Environmental Protection Act. Provides that any facility that emits a carcinogen in this State must have a CAAPP permit. Defines "carcinogen". Effective January 1, 2021.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning safety.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Environmental Protection Act is amended by adding Section 9.18 as follows:

(415 ILCS 5/9.18 new)

Sec. 9.18. Carcinogens; CAAPP permit.

(a) Any facility that emits a carcinogen in this State must have a CAAPP permit.

(b) In this Section, "carcinogen" means a substance listed under Group A of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's carcinogen risk assessment guidelines.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January 1, 2021.
