SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

625 ILCS 5/11-1511.5 new

Amends the Bicycles Article under the Rules of the Road Chapter of the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person riding a bicycle upon a roadway in the State may treat: a stop sign as a yield sign; and a red light as a stop sign.

AN ACT concerning transportation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding Section 11-1511.5 as follows:

(625 ILCS 5/11-1511.5 new)

Sec. 11-1511.5. Stop signs; red lights. A person riding a bicycle upon a roadway in this State may treat a stop sign as a yield sign. A person riding a bicycle upon a roadway in this State may treat a red light as a stop sign.
