SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Deborah E. "Debbie" Porter of Streator,
4who passed away on February 11, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was born in Streator to Philip
6"Flip" and Catherine "Honey" (Peterson) Wright on July 31,
71951; she attended Dwight-area schools and Joliet Junior
8College; she received her bachelor's degree from Northern
9Illinois University and her master's degree from Illinois State
10University; she married James Porter at St. Patrick Church in
11Ransom on November 30, 1979; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was a fourth grade school teacher at
13Woodland Grade School for 34 years and was a substitute teacher
14for another ten years; she was honored for her excellence in
15education; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was a member of St. Michael the
17Archangel Church in Streator and the Illinois Teachers
18Association; she enjoyed gardening, decorating, being with her
19little golf buddies, traveling with her sisters and friends,
20and surprising people with handmade gifts and treats; she also
21enjoyed having lots of laughs with her friend and beautician
22Becky Chalkey; and

1    WHEREAS, Debbie Porter was preceded in death by her
2parents; her brother, Danny Wright; her brother-in-law, Ronald
3Porter; her golden retriever, Max; and her close friend and
4fellow fourth grade teacher, Jacque LaRette; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Debbie Porter is survived by her husband, Jim; her
6sons, Kyle and Brett Porter; her special friend that she
7thought of as a daughter, Theresa (Chad) Lynch, and her
8children that she treated as grandchildren, Clayton and Norra
9Lynch; her sisters, Diane (Dave) Brody and Denice (Darvin)
10Kiper; her sister-in-law, Cleone Wright; and many nieces,
11nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one
12great-great-nephew; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Deborah E. "Debbie" Porter and extend our sincere condolences
16to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Debbie Porter as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
