SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harry C. Muffley of Rock Island, who passed away on March 2, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was born in Urbana to Elvay and Bertha Muffley on December 2, 1921; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was cited for bravery and courage; he married Barbara J. Barger in 1971; and

WHEREAS, Harry Muffley worked for the Department of Defense as a research chemist for 32 years; he retired in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was a member of the American Chemical Society, The American Society of Lubrication Engineers, South Park Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, and the American Legion Post 246 in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ruth Borop; and his brother-in-law, Jim Borop; and

WHEREAS, Harry Muffley is survived by his wife, Barbara Muffley; his stepchildren, Linda (Don) Hildebrand, Nancy (William), and Brian (Kate Cahill) Barger; his five grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and his nieces, Nancy and Miriam Borop; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harry C. Muffley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harry Muffley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
