SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of GeorgeAnne Therese Depke, who passed away on February 17, 2020; and

WHEREAS, GeorgeAnne Depke was born to George W. and Genevieve (Burns) Hain on July 16, 1938; and

WHEREAS, GeorgeAnne Depke enjoyed a successful real estate/broker career for many years and was also a driving force behind her husband's political career, all while managing the family's grocery store, Depke's Market; and

WHEREAS, GeorgeAnne Depke served as the Avon Township Clerk, a Lake County Republican Chairwoman, and a two-time delegate to the Republican National Convention; and

WHEREAS, GeorgeAnne Depke's enthusiasm for her community included creating a young girls baton group, The Cowgirls, and acting as choreographer for several Warren Township High School stage shows; she was also a mentor and judge for many local talent and beauty pageants; and

WHEREAS, GeorgeAnne Depke was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy (Deming) Depke; her husband of 45 years, Robert W. Depke; her sisters, Dolores, Helen, and Bonnie; and her parents; and

WHEREAS, GeorgeAnne Depke is survived by her children, Michael and Audrey (Schneider) Hendee, Kellie Hendee, Bowen and Claire (Langford) Depke, Braden and Janet (Oeffling) Depke, Shawn and Lynne (Turchon) Depke, Robert W. Depke II, and Jennie (Steinhabel) Depke; her twin brother, George Hain; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of GeorgeAnne Therese Depke and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of GeorgeAnne Depke as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
