SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Daniel L. "Chief" Johnson of Port Byron,
4who passed away on August 8, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dan Johnson was born in Kewanee to Hayden "Jack"
6and Adella (Euchaski) Johnson on August 24, 1935; he graduated
7from Visitation Catholic School and Wethersfield High School;
8he married Colette Wilson in 1956, and she preceded him in
9death in 1978; he married Linda J. Coe in Colona on June 22,
101985; he began his service in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft
11loadmaster in 1952, and he retired as a chief master sergeant
12(E-9) in 1995; during his military service, he attended the
13University of Maryland and the University of Oklahoma; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Following his service, Dan Johnson was employed as
15a maintenance management supervisor at the Arsenal with the
16U.S. Army Armament, Munitions & Chemical Command (AMCCOM); he
17later became a truck owner and operator, and alongside his
18wife, he was a popcorn farmer; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dan Johnson served as trustee and later supervisor
20of Coe Township, as president of the St. John's Parish Council,
21as Eucharistic minister and lector at St. John's, as trustee
22and president of the Our Lady of Grace Education Commission,

1and as a three-time member of the Alleman High School Board; he
2was a life member of the Coe-Lamb American Legion, the Vietnam
3Veterans Association, the Professional Loadmaster Association,
4the Air Force Sergeant's Association, and the Air Force
5Association; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dan Johnson was preceded in death by his first
7wife and his parents; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dan Johnson is survived by his wife, Linda; his
9children, Daniel C. Johnson, Valary L. Johnson, and Leslie D.
10(Doug) Johnson; his brother, Michael (Marcia) Johnson; his
11grandchildren, Nicolette (Joji) Mangubat, Cameron Starke, and
12Dylan Johnson; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Daniel L. "Chief" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Dan Johnson as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
