SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles Morgan Sayre, D.D.S., who passed
4away on August 4, 2020 at the age of 97; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Charles Sayre was born to Florence and Dr.
6Loren Sayre of Oak Park on June 8, 1923; he graduated from Oak
7Park River Forest High School, where he lettered in football,
8tennis, and track; he earned the rank of Eagle Scout; he
9attended Northwestern University and the Northwestern
10University Dental School; he married Ruth Ella Evans; together,
11they had five children and lived in Oak Park before moving to
12River Forest, where the pair lived in the same home for over 50
13years; he served as a captain in the U.S. Army during World War
14II; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre dedicated much of his business life to
16dentistry in both his Chicago office in the Marshall Field
17Annex for over 50 years and as a professor at the Loyola
18University School of Dentistry; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre was an active member in the River
20Forest, Oak Park, and Chicago communities for over 50 years; he
21was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oak Park and
22then the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, where he

1served as a deacon and elder for many years; he joined the
2River Forest Tennis Club in the 1960s and could usually be
3found there after office hours; he played tennis well into his
4late 80s and was a founding member of the Tennis and Fitness
5Centre in Oak Park; he was an avid scuba diver and an
6accomplished water skier; he was a member of the Oak Park Club
7and the Oak Park Country Club; he volunteered with many
8community organizations; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre was preceded in death by his wife of 55
10years, Ruth Ella Evans Sayre; his daughter, Marla Roxanne
11Sayre; his granddaughter, Katie Suzanne Satkamp; his sister,
12Lois Mildred Sayre Rainer; and his brother, Loren Don Sayre;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Sayre is survived by his children, Ronda
15(Steve) Satkamp, Cheryl (Walter) Collins, Harlan Sayre, and
16Kimm (Judy) Sayre; his grandchildren, Shannan (Steve) Bishop,
17Amy (Keg) Avakian, Mandy Wichman, Lissa (Adam) Blake, Carrie
18(Chad) Cooper, Abbie (Vic) Zulim, Cray Buresh, Zachary Sayre,
19Matthew Sayre, Meredith Sayre, Mallorie Sayre, and Morgan
20Sayre; his great-grandchildren, Ellie Bishop, Chloe Bishop,
21Madison Bishop, KJ Avakian, Michael Avakian, Suzy Avakian,
22Charlie Wichman, Jack Wichman, Lucie Blake, Emerson Blake,
23Cailyn Cooper, Caycee Cooper, Joey Zulim, and Connor Zulim;
24therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Charles Morgan Sayre, D.D.S. and extend our sincere condolences
4to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Dr. Sayre as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
