SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" Staranowicz; and

WHEREAS, Bill Staranowicz was raised in North Chicago and was a longtime resident of Wildwood; in 1951, he was the starting catcher for the State Champion Loras Academy Baseball Team in Dubuque, Iowa; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Bill Staranowicz worked at US Steel for 25 years and at Quonset Pizza for 18 years; and

WHEREAS, Bill Staranowicz was an avid sports fan; he was affectionately known as "Notre Dame Bill" and was an ardent fan of the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Bill Staranowicz was the beloved husband of the late Barbara; the loving dad of Carrie (Mike) Boesch, Bill (Marta), Susie, Chris (Sue), and Luanne (Jim) Geiyer; the dear grandpa of Katie, Barbie, Laura, Marisa, Valeria, Sage, Sophie, Rebecca, Morgan, and Jimi; the great-grandpa of Brayden, Carter, and Dylan; and the brother of Mary Woods and the late George; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Bill" Staranowicz and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Staranowicz as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
