SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Anne H. Evans of Des Plaines, who passed
4away on April 7, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Anne Evans was born in Long Beach, California on
6May 7, 1926; she attended Northwestern University, where she
7majored in chemistry and math, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in
81947; she married Thomas Martin Evans that same year; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Anne Evans joined the Maine Township Community
10Concert Association when it started in Des Plaines and served
11as its president for a time; she joined the Des Plaines Arts
12Council as a representative from the Northwest Symphony
13Orchestra Board and joined efforts to restore the Des Plaines
14Theater as a performing arts center; she was a member of the
15Northwest Suburban branch of the American Association of
16University Women (AAUW) and served on the board of Church Women
17United of Des Plaines; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Anne Evans began her involvement with local and
19State government as a founding member of the League of Women
20Voters (LWV) in Des Plaines; she was elected as a delegate to
21the Illinois Constitutional Convention on a non-partisan
22ballot in 1969; she was later elected to the Maine Township

1High School board, where she served for ten years, including as
2president; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Anne Evans was preceded in death by her husband,
4Thomas; her brother William Hincke; and her son-in-law, Bryan
5Newkirk; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Anne Evans is survived by her children, Kate
7Newkirk, Nancy (Vince) Johnsen, Betty Lou (Neal) Schindler, and
8James (Stacee) Evans; her grandchildren, Jenai, John, Susanna,
9Tom, Tobin, Steve, Brian, Brent, and Bruce; her sisters-in-law,
10Nancy (the late Arvid) Carlson and Lucy Hincke; and her five
11nieces and nephews and their families; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Anne H. Evans and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
15friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Anne Evans as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
