| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of Maude Victoria Christie Moore, who passed | 4 | | away on August 30, 2019; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Maude Moore was born in Salerno, Florida to | 6 | | Lucinda Thompson Christie and James A.
Christie Sr. on
February | 7 | | 24, 1922, shortly after they emigrated from the Bahamas; she | 8 | | was affectionately known as "Gracie" or "Sis"; at the age of | 9 | | nine, her maternal grandparents, with whom she had been living, | 10 | | returned to the Bahamas, and she stayed in Florida with her | 11 | | uncle; she was an excellent student, and by the time she | 12 | | graduated high school, she knew that she wanted to take care of | 13 | | people by becoming a nurse; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Maude Moore spent a year in New York with family, | 15 | | before heading to Chicago to attend the Michael Reese Hospital
| 16 | | School of Nursing; she married Everett E. Moore; and
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Maude Moore converted from the Episcopalian faith | 18 | | of her childhood
to the Catholic faith, and the family joined | 19 | | Holy Angels Catholic Church, where her children attended | 20 | | school; when her youngest child
started second grade, she went | 21 | | to work for the City of Chicago,
where she was employed for | 22 | | over 20 years at what was then the Department
of Human |

| 1 | | Services; she retired in 1993; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, Maude Moore moved back to Florida in 2003; she | 3 | | spent her time visiting with family, attending St. Monica | 4 | | Church, and watching CNN and Judge Mathis; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Maude Moore returned to Chicago in 2013 and began | 6 | | attending St. Sabina Church; she was a talented seamstress and | 7 | | cook and was always laughing and smiling and ready for a | 8 | | conversation or to offer her advice; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Maude Moore was preceded in death by her parents; | 10 | | her husband, Everett; her
brothers, Joseph Christie, James A. | 11 | | Christie Jr., and Marion Christie;
her sister, Myrtle Christie | 12 | | Littleton; her brothers-in-law, Wendell Wooten
Sr. and Harold | 13 | | Jackson Sr.; Christie Family patriarchs, Uncles Willie
and | 14 | | Charles Christie; Christie Family matriarch, Beatrice | 15 | | Christie;
and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Maude Moore is survived by her children,
Everetto, | 17 | | Viveca, and D'Rone; her grandchildren, Kia and Everett;
her | 18 | | brothers, Lorenza (Loretta), Bernard (Della), and Randolph | 19 | | (Debra);
her sisters, Vierie and Altamese; her sister-in-law, | 20 | | Helen; numerous relatives in Miami and Stuart, Florida and New | 21 | | York; her friend and "sister"
of 60 years, Eleanor "El" Graham; | 22 | | and many others; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 3 | | Maude Victoria Christie Moore and extend our sincere | 4 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | 5 | | her; and be it further
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 7 | | presented to the family of Maude Moore as an expression of our | 8 | | deepest sympathy.
