SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marna R. Tullis, formerly of Long Point, who passed away on September 30, 2022; and

WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was born to Clarence and Ruth (Saemisch) Mills in Long Point on May 6, 1926; she attended Long Point Grade School and graduated from Long Point High School in 1944; she earned her bachelor's degree in Education and her master's degree in Special Education from Illinois State University; she married William J. Tullis at St. Anthony Church in Streator on April 19, 1952, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2004; and

WHEREAS, Marna Tullis taught school in Flanagan and later at the Woodland School; through the years, she taught Home Economics and Special Education; she was teaching sixth grade when she retired in 1989; and

WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was a member of the Long Point American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as president for many years; she was also a member of the Livingston County Teachers Association, the Illinois Rural Letter Carriers Association Auxiliary, and the Long Point High School Alumni Association, where she served as secretary and treasurer; and

WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was a member of the former St. Anthony Church and currently belonged to St. Michael the Archangel Church at the time of her passing; and

WHEREAS, Marna Tullis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Byron Mills; and

WHEREAS, Marna Tullis is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Scott) Ingold and Julie (Jim) Jonen; her son, Greg Tullis; her grandchildren, Niki (Adam Swisher) VanDuzer, Ryan (Nadia Meghjani) Ingold, Lauren (Jayme) Roberts, and Ashley (Gavin Pfieffer) Jonen; and her great-grandchildren, Rocco and Dessa VanDuzer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marna R. Tullis and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marna Tullis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
