SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Karen E. Sutton of Springfield, who
4passed away on October 10, 2022; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Karen Sutton was born to Byron "Bookie" Salzman
6and Dorothy Corven Salzman in Springfield on May 29, 1947; she
7graduated from Springfield High School in 1965 and attended
8Brown's Business College; she married Carroll Sutton; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Karen Sutton had a career in data processing,
10retiring from the Illinois Department of Public Health in
112002; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Karen Sutton and her husband, Carroll, worked
13together on nine of their Springfield High School reunions; in
14their later years, they traveled to National Mustang Shows
15from coast to coast, showing their Mustangs; her attention to
16detail helped them earn several awards, and her work in the
17Tally Room while Carroll was judging cars was greatly
18appreciated by the judging secretaries with whom she worked;
19and
 
20    WHEREAS, Karen Sutton really enjoyed bowling, and she was
21exceptional at it until problems with her knees kept her from

1continuing; she also served as a league secretary in a few
2leagues; she was always an avid reader, utilizing her Kindle
3to either read or work on a jigsaw puzzle whenever she had a
4spare moment; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Karen Sutton was preceded in death by her
6parents; her brother, Lou Salzman; and both sets of her
7grandparents; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Karen Sutton is survived by her husband of 54
9years and 54 days, Carroll; her daughter, Julie; her son,
10Brent; and her darling Border Collie, Oreo; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Karen E. Sutton and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Karen Sutton as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
