| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Karen E. Sutton of Springfield, who | 4 | | passed away on October 10, 2022; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Karen Sutton was born to Byron "Bookie" Salzman | 6 | | and Dorothy Corven Salzman in Springfield on May 29, 1947; she | 7 | | graduated from Springfield High School in 1965 and attended | 8 | | Brown's Business College; she married Carroll Sutton; and
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Karen Sutton had a career in data processing, | 10 | | retiring from the Illinois Department of Public Health in | 11 | | 2002; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Karen Sutton and her husband, Carroll, worked | 13 | | together on nine of their Springfield High School reunions; in | 14 | | their later years, they traveled to National Mustang Shows | 15 | | from coast to coast, showing their Mustangs; her attention to | 16 | | detail helped them earn several awards, and her work in the | 17 | | Tally Room while Carroll was judging cars was greatly | 18 | | appreciated by the judging secretaries with whom she worked; | 19 | | and
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Karen Sutton really enjoyed bowling, and she was | 21 | | exceptional at it until problems with her knees kept her from |

| 1 | | continuing; she also served as a league secretary in a few | 2 | | leagues; she was always an avid reader, utilizing her Kindle | 3 | | to either read or work on a jigsaw puzzle whenever she had a | 4 | | spare moment; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Karen Sutton was preceded in death by her | 6 | | parents; her brother, Lou Salzman; and both sets of her | 7 | | grandparents; and
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Karen Sutton is survived by her husband of 54 | 9 | | years and 54 days, Carroll; her daughter, Julie; her son, | 10 | | Brent; and her darling Border Collie, Oreo; therefore, be it
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 13 | | Karen E. Sutton and extend our sincere condolences to her | 14 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | 15 | | further
