SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark D. Cummings of East Moline, who passed away on January 2, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Mark Cummings was born to Roy and Bertha (Queen) Cummings in Omaha, Nebraska on October 28, 1931; he married Janet L. Stein in Omaha on November 9, 1951; he served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War and achieved the rank of sergeant; and

WHEREAS, Mark Cummings enjoyed a career as a photoengraver in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Rockford, the Quad Cities, and Las Vegas; and

WHEREAS, Mark Cummings enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the love of his life, Janet; he was a hard worker his entire life and always found something to keep his hands busy; and

WHEREAS, Mark Cummings was preceded in death by his parents and his five siblings; and

WHEREAS, Mark Cummings is survived by his wife; his children, John, Marjorie (Scott) Rowlands, Michael (Lisa), and JoAnn Canfield; his grandchildren, Chad Rowlands, Janine Cummings, Adam Rowlands, Tess Hurt, Romanie Brouard, Luke Cummings, and Brianna Cummings; and his 12 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mark D. Cummings and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Cummings as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
