    Amends the Counties Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning county board elections.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing
5Section 2-3002.5 as follows:
 
6    (55 ILCS 5/2-3002.5)
7    Sec. 2-3002.5. Beginning with members elected at the the
8general election in 2002, counties having a population between
9800,000 and 3,000,000 according to 2000 decennial census shall
10have no more than 18 members on their county board. If the
11chairman of the county board is elected at-large by the voters
12of the county as provided in Section 2-3007, the chairman
13shall not be counted as a member of the county board for the
14purpose of the limitations on the size of the county board
15provided in this Section. Neither a member nor the chairman of
16that county board shall serve simultaneously as commissioner
17or president of the board of commissioners of the forest
18preserve district. No person shall seek election to both the
19county board and the forest preserve commission at the same
20election.
