SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2205/2205-35 new

Amends the Department of Healthcare and Family Services Law. Provides that the Department of Healthcare and Family Services shall approve veteran support specialists who are certified by, and in good standing with, the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc. to provide peer support services to recipients of medical assistance under Article V of the Illinois Public Aid Code.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is amended by adding Section 2205-35 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2205/2205-35 new)

Sec. 2205-35. Certified veteran support specialists. The Department of Healthcare and Family Services shall approve veteran support specialists who are certified by, and in good standing with, the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association, Inc. to provide peer support services to recipients of medical assistance under Article V of the Illinois Public Aid Code.
