SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

820 ILCS 405/401.7 new

Amends the Unemployment Insurance Act. Provides that for purposes of determining eligibility for or the amount of any benefits under that Act, the Department of Employment Security shall exclude from consideration any volunteer emergency medical services (EMS) pay received under the temporary employ of a governmental entity, if that service is performed in the exercise of duties as a worker serving on a temporary volunteer basis as a volunteer emergency medical service worker.

AN ACT concerning employment.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Unemployment Insurance Act is amended by adding Section 401.7 as follows:

Sec. 401.7. Exclusion of volunteer EMS pay. For purposes of determining eligibility for or the amount of any benefits under this Act, the Department shall exclude from consideration any pay received by EMS personnel under the temporary employ of a governmental entity, if that service is performed in the exercise of duties as a worker serving on a temporary volunteer basis as a volunteer emergency medical service worker. In this Section, "EMS personnel" has the meaning given that term in the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act.
