SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
820 ILCS 405/401.7 new

    Amends the Unemployment Insurance Act. Provides that for purposes of determining eligibility for or the amount of any benefits under that Act, the Department of Employment Security shall exclude from consideration any volunteer emergency medical services (EMS) pay received under the temporary employ of a governmental entity, if that service is performed in the exercise of duties as a worker serving on a temporary volunteer basis as a volunteer emergency medical service worker.

1    AN ACT concerning employment.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Unemployment Insurance Act is amended by
5adding Section 401.7 as follows:
 
6    (820 ILCS 405/401.7 new)
7    Sec. 401.7. Exclusion of volunteer EMS pay. For purposes
8of determining eligibility for or the amount of any benefits
9under this Act, the Department shall exclude from
10consideration any pay received by EMS personnel under the
11temporary employ of a governmental entity, if that service is
12performed in the exercise of duties as a worker serving on a
13temporary volunteer basis as a volunteer emergency medical
14service worker. In this Section, "EMS personnel" has the
15meaning given that term in the Emergency Medical Services
16(EMS) Systems Act.
