SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
110 ILCS 27/23 new

    Amends the Dual Credit Quality Act. Provides that a partnership agreement between a school district and a community college district may allow a student to enroll in a dual credit course who does not otherwise meet the community college's academic eligibility requirements to enroll in the dual credit course. Sets forth requirements concerning such a partnership agreement. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Dual Credit Quality Act is amended by
5adding Section 23 as follows:
 
6    (110 ILCS 27/23 new)
7    Sec. 23. Student enrollment eligibility.
8    (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act or any
9administrative rules to the contrary, the partnership
10agreement between a school district and a community college
11district may allow a student to enroll in a dual credit course
12who does not otherwise meet the community college's academic
13eligibility requirements to enroll in the dual credit course.
14Under such a partnership agreement:
15        (1) the student shall receive the same instruction and
16    shall complete the same coursework as those students
17    enrolled in the course who do meet the academic
18    eligibility requirements; and
19        (2) the instructor of the dual credit course shall
20    meet the academic credential requirements to teach the
21    dual credit course, consistent with paragraphs (1), (2),
22    and (3) of Section 20 of this Act, but shall not be
23    required to exceed those credential requirements.

1    (b) Nothing in this Section shall be construed to allow
2the awarding of dual credit to any student who does not meet
3the requirements of the partnership agreement under subsection
4(a).
 
5    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
6becoming law.
