SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/6-19  from Ch. 122, par. 6-19

    Amends the Regional Board of School Trustees Article of the School Code. Provides that a vacancy on the regional board of school trustees shall be filled from the same county (rather than territory) by the remaining board members until the next election and that removal of the member filling the vacancy from the county shall constitute a vacancy. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
56-19 as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/6-19)  (from Ch. 122, par. 6-19)
7    Sec. 6-19. Vacancy on regional board. Notwithstanding
8Subject to the residency provisions in Section 6-2 of this
9Code, any vacancy on the regional board of school trustees
10shall be filled from the same county territory by the
11remaining members until the next regular election for members
12of the regional board of school trustees, when the vacancy
13shall be filled for the unexpired time and shall then be
14subject to the residency provisions in Section 6-2 of this
15Code. Removal of a member from the township from which such
16member was elected into a township which has its quota of
17members on the board shall constitute a vacancy. Removal of a
18member filling a vacancy until the next election from the
19county from which he or she was selected shall constitute a
20vacancy.
