SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
55 ILCS 5/3-9001.5 new

    Amends the Counties Code. Provides that, in addition to any other qualifications provided by law, a person is not eligible to hold the office of State's Attorney in any county unless he or she is a legal resident of the State of Illinois and has never been convicted of a felony. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section
53-9001.5 as follows:
 
6    (55 ILCS 5/3-9001.5 new)
7    Sec. 3-9001.5. Qualifications. In addition to any other
8qualifications provided by law, a person is not eligible to
9hold the office of State's Attorney in any county unless he or
10she is a legal resident of the State of Illinois and has never
11been convicted of a felony.
 
12    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13becoming law.
