SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
25 ILCS 130/8A-60 new

    Amends the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984. Provides that any reference, image, photo, picture, stationary, insignia, label, inscription, statue, sign, or any other type of printing, art, or writing in respect to former Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives Michael J. Madigan shall be removed from the property of the Illinois State Capitol Building, any legislative facilities, and any other State property or facility and no such materials are permitted on or in such State properties and facilities. Provides that the requirements shall not apply to any item that is official public record or otherwise required by law to remain in or attached to the specified State properties and facilities. Provides that the Architect of the Capitol, along with all relevant State agencies and departments, shall perform all necessary duties for the purposes of the specified requirements. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Legislative Commission Reorganization Act
5of 1984 is amended by adding Section 8A-60 as follows:
 
6    (25 ILCS 130/8A-60 new)
7    Sec. 8A-60. Removal of the name and image of Michael J.
8Madigan from the State Capitol and other State properties.
9    (a) As soon as practicable after the effective date of
10this amendatory Act of the 102nd General Assembly, any
11reference, image, photo, picture, stationary, insignia, label,
12inscription, statue, sign, or any other type of printing, art,
13or writing in respect to former Speaker of the Illinois House
14of Representatives Michael J. Madigan shall be removed from
15the property of the Illinois State Capitol Building, any
16legislative facilities, and any other State property or
17facility and no such materials are permitted on or in such
18State properties and facilities.
19    (b) The requirements of subsection (a) shall not apply to
20any item that is official public record or otherwise required
21by law to remain in or attached to the State properties and
22facilities specified under subsection (a).
23    (c) The Architect of the Capitol, at the direction of the

1Board of the Office of the Architect of the Capitol, along with
2all relevant State agencies and departments, shall perform all
3necessary duties for the purposes of the requirements of this
4Section.
 
5    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
6becoming law.
