HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to thank our friend and colleague,
4Representative Tom Bennett, on the occasion of his retirement
5from the House; and
 
6    WHEREAS, After a long career in education and information
7technology, Rep. Bennett began his service in the Illinois
8House in January 2015; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rep. Bennett was a tireless advocate for his
10district; with almost unlimited energy, he sought to visit
11every fair, festival, civic meeting, community event, picnic,
12pancake breakfast, fish fry, and chicken dinner within the
13boundaries of the 106th district; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rep. Bennett applied that same boundless energy
15to his work in the Capitol by advocating for our schools, small
16businesses, farmers, first responders, and the disabled; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Rep. Bennett was a dedicated force for respect,
18civility, and good relations between members during his years
19in office; he sought to bring people of diverse viewpoints
20together in friendship, sometimes over dinner or over Oreo
21cookies; and

1    WHEREAS, Rep. Bennett was recently appointed to continue
2representing his constituents as a member of the Illinois
3State Senate and will thus be departing this chamber at the
4conclusion of the 102nd General Assembly; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
6HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we thank Representative Tom Bennett for his friendship and his
8years of service to the people of the 106th district and to all
9the people of Illinois; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That we wish Rep. Bennett, his wife, Kathy,
11their children, and their grandchildren many happy and healthy
12years to come; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to Rep. Bennett as an expression of our esteem and
15respect.
