HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph C. "Joe" O'Donnell of Macomb, who passed away on March 17, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Joe O'Donnell was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Robert and Alice (Feeney) O'Donnell on December 29, 1951; he grew up in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1970 and the University of Notre Dame in 1974; he married Rita J. O'Donnell on November 9, 1974 and later graduated from John Marshall Law School; and

WHEREAS, Joe O'Donnell practiced law in Macomb for decades and served as the attorney for the Macomb Park District; and

WHEREAS, Joe O'Donnell was a member of St. Paul's Church and the McDonough County Bar Association; he had a wealth of friendships, maintaining many from his childhood and teenage years; he had a calm and thoughtful nature, and his humor was clever and quick; he enjoyed a good hamburger and vintage cars; he was a kind and generous man; and

WHEREAS, Joe O'Donnell was preceded in death by his mother, Alice; his brother, John Patrick O'Donnell; his sister, Margaret O'Donnell; and his infant brother, Robert Michael O'Donnell; and

WHEREAS, Joe O'Donnell is survived by his wife, Rita; his father, Robert E. O'Donnell; his brother, Jim O'Donnell; his sisters, Anne (Pete) Sticklen and Mary (D.J.) Balzer; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph C. "Joe" O'Donnell and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joe O'Donnell as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
