HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, In 2020, the novel coronavirus COVID-19 began to
3spread throughout the world, creating a global pandemic that
4has had a catastrophic impact on human life, our communities,
5and our economy; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Communities in every state began to experience
7increased loss of life in March 2020, with families losing
8fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters due
9to the COVID-19 virus; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Many across the United States were and continue
11to be personally impacted by COVID-19, including mourning
12their loved ones, neighbors, colleagues, and friends or
13suffering from the unknown long-term health implications of
14the virus; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Since early March 2020, Illinois has faced the
16COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused extraordinary sickness and
17loss of life, infecting over 1,380,261 people and causing
1822,739 deaths in our State alone; and
 
19    WHEREAS, In Illinois, public servants, frontline and
20essential workers, and health care professionals selflessly
21acted to protect their neighbors and communities and find

1innovative ways to provide services at the risk of their own
2safety and lives; and
 
3    WHEREAS, The COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact
4on our State, the United States, and countries around the
5world, but each life lost to COVID–19 shall never be
6forgotten; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we mourn the loss of those who passed due to the COVID-19
10virus; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That we recognize the suffering of those who
12contracted the COVID-19 virus and survived but carry with them
13the unknown health side effects; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That we offer our deepest sympathies to those
15who are grieving with hope that the pain will not always feel
16as sharp and that moments of joy will return.
